The Meadows Marathon

The Meadows Marathon is one of Edinburgh’s largest community running events, bringing together thousands of participants to raise money for charities while celebrating accessible, grassroots sport. I supported marketing, communications, and live event delivery, helping translate a complex, multi-stakeholder event into clear and engaging audience experiences.

The Challenge

With multiple charities, volunteers, and participants involved, communications needed to balance logistical clarity with energy and community spirit. Information had to be accessible, timely, and motivating, ensuring that runners felt confident, informed, and connected to the event’s wider impact.

The strategy

I focused on participant-first storytelling: simplifying operational information while amplifying the collective purpose behind the event. Messaging prioritised clarity, inclusivity and momentum, guiding audiences smoothly from registration through to race day and post-event celebration.
